Question:

Is my blood pressure causing me to feel light headed ? (29 weeks pregnant)?

I am 29 weeks pregnant & the past couple of days I have felt very light headed. I went to the doctor yesterday, and my blood pressure was 100/57. This is lower than for me than normal. My top number usually is between 110-115, and my bottom number is between 60-70.

Can my blood pressure being on the lower side cause me to feel this way? Or is this related to being pregnant?

Thank you!

  1. It could be either one.  As the baby grows it pushes on that main artery that runs through your abdomen often making you light headed.  Sometimes women even have a tendency to faint.

  2. i had this and i was anemic doctor should give you some iron to take, or if he says your fine you usually get light headed in pregnancy x

  3. I was told that me being light headed was due to my low blood pressure.  When I feel this way if I eat something with some sugar or drink a little caffeine it normally helps.  You should be fine as long as you dont find your self passing out.

  4. Pregnancy leads to so many things which can include blood-pressure oddities and lightheadedness. A friend of mine gets very high blood-pressure and migranes now that she's pregnant so I'd say it's all because of pregnancy. Just make sure you're up on fluids though and give yourself a little rest after walking and any other physical activities.

  5. It could definitely be blood pressure related. It's normal for women to have lower than normal pressures during pregnancy, and some women don't tolerate the change as well. You can increase your hydration to try to compensate (it adds fluid to the vascular spaces, thereby increasing pressure).

It could also be hormonal, and there is not much you can do about that. Just avoid sudden changes in position, such as rising too quickly from lying down.

    Good luck!
