  1. If you bought it from Petco, it is not a true red tail and it is not Boa constrictor constrictor. It is Boa constrictor imperator, a Colombian boa, also known as a common boa constrictor, or a Colombian red tail. True red tails go for at least two or three hundred dollars from breeders and would cost even more from a pet store. If yours was under two hundred bucks, it is a Colombian, which is not considered a true red tail.

  2. If, at the very end of the tail, the markings are replaced with red in spots all the way down, then it is a red tailed boa. You should add a picture link to be sure, or I could send u a picture of mine to give you an idea. If so just e-mail me at alyssalyon16@yahoo.com or alyssalyon16@oal.com.

  3. the pet store should know i have an colubian red tail it nice mabe an month old
