yesterday one of my pet budgies was acting like its normal self until today. today it seems really tired and has its wings sort of open. (it still flys and chirps). but i noticed that its p**p is "RED"!! is it a sign that it is dying. i mean it wasnt like that yesterday. also it seems that it is always sleepy. and also it is usually angry if i put my hand in the cage now today if i do that he seems not to mind and doesnt care less until if i try to pet it.

  1. It doesn't sound good...Cover the cage and keep it warm...keep it away from any other birds you may have. I'm sorry. kjl

  2. Immediately take it to an avian vet. Go to www.aav.org to locate the nearest avian vet. If you used non-stick cookware anywhere near your bird (or even anywhere in the house) yesterday, then chances are that your bird is suffering from PTFE poisoning, which is usually fatal. Most 'sudden' deaths in birds are caused by PTFE poisoning. PTFE is a non-stick coating used in cookware and many appliances, that when heated releases fumes deadly to birds. PTFE is popular under the brand names Teflon (most popular name), Silverstone, T-Fal and many others. However, red droppings suggest something really wrong -- did you give it any avocado, chocolate or let it chew on anything covered with lead? Also make sure that you don't let it nibble on all plants, as some of them are toxic. Go to www.flyinggems.com to find the list of things that are toxic to birds.

For now, take it immediately ot an avian vet (I repeat)

  3. u should get help i mean your pet sholud

  4. WOW why haven't you gone to the vet yet? THE BIRD IS OBVIOUSLY SICK! If you want it to live, ya might want to HURRY UP!!

  5. first have you given him a new food. that may have been colored? this could be a cause of this! if not then you may want to contact your avain vet soon!

  6. Your pet might be dying, and you're asking questions on Yahoo Answers? Shame on you. Call your vet NOW.
