Question:

Is my budgie sick or just cold?

My budgie has regurgitated twice for no reason and isn't being his usual happy, chirpy self. He is always sleeping and not talking plus he is really fluffy all the time and i found him sleeping on the bottom of the cage instead of on the perch. p.s it is winter where I am which may explain the sleepiness but why is he throwing up? I asked someone from the place where we got him and they said he might have a stomach bug or has eaten too much but i just wanted your opinion.

  1. I'd get him to a vet because too much sleeping is usually a sign of illness.  I've had budgies for 15 years and live in a cold climate and they should be active during the day.  Plus, budgies like to sleep on their perches, usually the highest one.  They don't like to sleep on the floor.  As for the regurgiation, I had a budgie that did that to me because he was so excited to see me.  But I don't know why yours is doing that so you might want to mention it to the vet.  Good luck!

  2. when birds are to cold they sleep closer to the ground or curl up and go fluffy! it probably ate to much with made it throw up! ive had budgies for 3 years I'm getting 9 more! ive never seen them throw up before and i live in tasmainia which is the coldest state in australia! so its probably just from overfeeding it!

    good luckuck! hope this helped!

  3. it is nt sick you play with it.then it is nt in sleepy mood.

  4. It sounds like he's sick, he needs to see a vet as soon as possible.

  5. Budgies tends to be in a bad mood when the weather is cold- and there he is.

Mine gets drumpy on rainy days and it always like to sleep on days like that. And its not throwing up, it is just regrigrating. If it really seems it is throwing up, bring it to the vet.
