Question:

Is my car covered under my full coverage insurance if it is flooded?

I drove home in a thunderstorm and a street I take every day was flooded. I was driving very slow and visibility was poor because of the weather conditions so I was not aware that the water was too deep for my car until it was too late. The car stalled and the water level continued to rise until it started pooring in through the door.

The car is undrivable and the inside has severe water damage. The insurance adjustor was very rude when he contacted me stating that if I knew the street was flooded I shouldnt have driven into the water. Now I'm concerened they may try not cover the damage.

Is there anyway they can get out of paying or should I be fine?

  1. If the insurance adjuster was a jerk, then you need to let his boss know that. We adjusters get a bad enough reputation without having jerks making it tougher for the rest of us.

If you have comp coverage then you are covered so you have nothing to worry about. They have no basis to deny the claim. There is no exclusion that will apply, unless he can prove you drove into the water on purpose with the intent to make a claim.

In the meantime, since the car is now a probable total loss start doing some research into what the car was worth just prior to the loss.

  2. Try to use google to find some related links or you could try to use answer engines like yahoo answer or answer.com to find some relevant questions. If you like some direct resource, here is a good one from my own experience.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  3. As long as you have comprehensive coverage you will be covered less your deductible.
