Question:

Is my carbon fiber fork damaged?

I just got a new bike and i hit a bad bump and i was going quite fast. I know that if i had a huge impact on my carbon fork id have to replace it. Is this a big enough impact?

  1. Here's how you can check for yourself, remove the wheel, get a #2 pencil, tap each tine with the pencil and if it rattles at all you need to replace it. Carbon fiber can break on the inside and not show jack on the outside. If your bike is from a custom builder you can go to them with the problem. Some custom frame builders work on their products. Good luck!


  2. If you think it's damaged take it to your local bike shop.

    And don't ride it!

    However........it's probably OK.........those forks are stronger than you think.
