I had my cat for like six years now, i always tell my dad to go to a vet to check him up but he keeps giving excuses, mainly because we do not have alot of money and i love my cat to DEATH!!! I wanna know if there s any signs to a health catt or if he has worms or other stuff like that. how will i know? My cat seems pretty healthy to me though.. If it helps he is not an indoor cat.

** plus what are ways to reeduce hairballs?

  1. worms such as tape worms will appear as grains of rice on the hairs near its butt, super close to the a**s ( i know, gross, cat a**s) but its serious if it does have tapeworms. it can also have roundworms too.

if it has rice looking things on the butt, i would buy this stuff calls prozantiquil or prezantiqel. or look up "tape worm tabs for cats" you'll know its the right one when its white and shades of sky blue. 1 or 2 pills is all you need to cure it, that is just ONE dose! the amt of pills per dose varies depending on the size of your cat.... and they give you 3-6 pills in the bottle. you wont need to repeat it unless he goes outside a lot and carries fleas..... fleas typically give your cat worms by biting your cat when it has the worm larvae inside it.

treat your cat for fleas asap if you think she has worms too.

you can bring him to the vet to get tested, but you said you wont pay for it, so this is the only way i know. of course the best way is to ave the vet test him and give a shot or set of pills to rid the worms. the shot is one time only and works quickly.

remember its not too easy to give your cat a pill. youll have to smash it up and put it in half a serving of wet food. they prefer tuna to cover the taste. dont feed her any more food till its gone.

  2. If your cat has worms, his tummy will look bloted and pushed out, if it is, you can buy stuff at any pet store

  3. your really should bring your cat in for a exam every few years the cost is low - about 50 bucks.

things to check for worms are his stool samples, and open his mouth and if the tongue is very white that is a sign of worms.

If he is an outdoor cat,  he should have his rabbies and distemper shots,

go to the pet store they sell hairball treatments,  cats usually love the taste of it.

  4. If your cat eats without vomiting, has normal bowel movements, is "happy" most of the time I would say your cat is healthy.  If you notice a change in character then I would say something is not right and you may want to take him in to a vet yourself.

If it's a random thing for hairballs you can dry a glob of Vaseline on his nose.  He will l**k it off and it will help slide the hairball out.  If it's a constant thing, you can try to brush him regularly to get rid of the loose fur that he will normally l**k and swallow.  That's what I do for both my cats, it seems to help.
