My cat is 62 day's pregnant and the father is in season, she's walking round not knowing what to do and begging for my attention. She's nudging me and "forcing" me to cuddle/stroke her she lays on the floor panting and then gets up after 2 or 3 mins. She's meowing frantically and can't seem to get comfortable. The male cat is in season and keeps sniffing her and trying to mate with her, she's quite happy to let him do it and a couple of times she's sniffed his backside and bit his neck (I tried telling her she was doing it wrong lol) she follows him everywhere he goes and they've fought quite a bit. I've got to go to work in a little while and I'm worried about what he will do

she's acting so strangely that if i didn't know she was pregnant i'd think she was in season.

is she in labour

what will he do/is it safe to leave him alone with her

how will he react when she has them if I'm not there

I'd appreciate you're advice as I'm panicking (although quite excited)

p.s I'm getting them spayed so please don't comment on that!

EDIT: are the panting episodes contractions?

she's fine for about 10 mins (running round chasing other cat trying to fight, looking for me seeking attention) but then she lay's down and pants for a couple of minutes she lay's on her belly sometimes is that normal?

  1. First off, separate the male.  She doesn't need that added distraction.  She might very well be in early labor but with the male's presence she's stalling until she's left alone.  Put her somewhere so she can be alone and comfortable.  If this is her first litter, you might want to stay close by to make sure all goes smoothly.  You might have to play the role of midwife.

  2. It's always worth getting her checked by a vet, because the longer u leave symptoms the more progressed conditions can become and the harder and more expensive they are to treat

    looks like contractions btw
