Hello. Our cat is/was pregnant and due just over a week ago, worked on a 63 day pregnancy. 3 days ago she came into heat, fully, not just being affectionate, its full heat. what does this mean? she had to have been pregnant, nipples got bigger, abdomen got bigger, plus she hasnt been in heat the whole time till now. has she lost the kittens? can we expect her to deliver the poor kittens? i read somewhere that they get reabsorbed into the body...is this true?thanks for your help

  1. maybe it was a phantom pregnancy? did you ever get it confirmed by a vet?

  2. Please consider having her spayed.   It is so difficult to find homes for them that are responsible and will have them altered.

  3. It sounds like a false pregnancy. Often the cat will act is if she is going to give birth, nipples will swell, stomach will enlarge, the normal signs of pregnancy. As this has happened to my rabbits. Or it could be to do with your other cat dieing last sunday, death can have an affect on pets she could of re-absorbed the young in her stress.

So, iam very sorry`for your loss of your cat last sunday and of the babies. Hope this helped. x*x

  4. she may have had a false pregnancy but what you are describing certainly demands a trip to the vet. I would recommend you consider having her speyed as this is not good for her to have this happening. Do, please, take her to the vet or she may soon be joining your other cat on the rainbow bridge ...

Oh, and BTW, while cats can at times re-absorb their kittens, they won't do it at such a late stage of pregnancy.

  5. She could have a uterus infection, that can look like a pregnancy. I would call Vet, she could die.

  6. How about fixing her so you dont have to worry if she's pregnant or not.  Please fix her!!!!  SOON!

  7. it sounds like your cat reabsorbed the kittens early on and was having a phantom pregnancy, sorry honey but if your cat is in heat then there will be no kittens, if you are really worried then just get her checked out by your vet to be on the safe side

  8. Talk to a vet about it .
