Is my cat the only one that does this?

I have a 5 month old DSH cat. She is very sweet. But I notice that when she is very comfortable, and starts to purr she nibbles on everything. For example, when she crawls in my lap, or on my bed before she finally lays down, she rubs against me and when I pet her, she nibbles on my hand or my ear if I just happen to be holding her. It doesn't hurt, but its weird. Does anyone else's cat do this?

  1. yes

  2. I love when my baby does this.  I get this treatment whenever I get home from work or anywhere.  She also does this at night when she's trying to get comfortable.  I love it and think it's sweet.  Enjoy the love!

  3. you cat just wants to be comfortable. and wants to know that your there. my cat did this when she was little too.

  4. no its not weired supposedly that and the clawing thing is a mother kitten relationship thing it reminds them of mom so if they like you they do it its like when they feed on mom they do that too it partially helps massage milk out but also its instinctual so no worries she just loves you

  5. my kitty does the same thing!!! it's so cute! i love it

  6. omg my 8mth old kitten does that whenever she see me come home

  7. My cat does this and from what I understand, it sounds like your cat is "nursing." Cats who were taken away from (or lost) their mothers too young tend to do this. At 3 years old, my cat still "kisses" when she gets content and cozy, and I think she always will. Sometimes she also starts kneading when she does this, which is something that nursing kitties will do.

  8. Yes, many cats do this.  It's almost like reciprocal grooming as a way of bonding.  Just be sure she doesn't get too aggressive about it and nip you.

  9. haha yes my cat does the same thing. he bites my nose. its normal

  10. Those are love bites.  It's their way of showing affection. When cats lay with their mothers, they want to be as close to her face as possible, as a source of heat, comfort and because she cleans them. And so it's only natural that a kitty wants to get right in your face, and give you little smooches. That's all she/he's doing. Caring and loving you!!

  11. its a love bite. My cat does this all the time. It's not a painful bite its just really soft kind of like a puppy when it plays.

  12. My cat is a male and 5 years old. He has done this ever since he was a baby. I just call it a love bite. He nibbles me or my boyfirends hands or feet whenever he gets really comfy. I think its cute, their just showing that they love you.

  13. It's a love bite, and it's very common.  All 3 of mine love bite, and I think it's adorable.  It is a way of showing affection, so you shouldn't be worried at all.  Of course, one of mine has a tendency to get a little too excited and bites a little hard.  OUCH!

  14. You're cat may be itchy.

We just took our 3month kitten to vet for other reasons. We thought it was a nervous tick that she bites/licks when you pet/touch her lower back.

Vet said she's itchy. We need to work on why she's itchy.
