  1. sounds like she is getting ready and should deliver within 12-24 hours.

has she been examined to make sure the pups aren't to large for her to deliver and they are in the correct position?

Pregnancy in chis can often result in a c-section if the male was larger or there is large in the background.

Please once she start in full contractions and between pup don't let it go more than an hour. If you do it could be a problem like a pup stuck or not in the right position causing c-section.

Warning in my area the vets charge between $700-$900 for a c-section.

any other questions feel free to email and I will try to help

  2. Not to sound mean, but if you don't already know the answer to this question - you shouldn't have a pregnant dog.

  3. what is this BYB day? Call your vet and get them on standby, Chihuahuas almost always require a cesarean section to deliver. The discharge can come a few days before the pups come. She will stop eating and begin to nest, like digging in the blankets or whatever you have for her to whelp in.When you take her temperature and it stays below 99 she should give birth withing 24 hours

  4. are you sure about that date?  If correct she would be 84 days along as of yesterday- making her 20+days overdue.

If this is the case- she needs a ver now!!

  5. she could be. do you have a whelping box for her or somewhere quite for her to give birth

  6. you might want to take her to the vet asap.  her temp seems like it is staying a constant temp below 99 which indicates that with in 24hrs she should give birth.  if she was breed on july 8th then she would be giving birth with in 57-65 days.  if i counted correctly she isn't even 57 days yet.  if she gives birth at home and her pups are developed yet(most vet offices won't even do an x ray to see how many puppies till day 58) its very likely that they won't survive.  she needs to go to the vet at least for a check up cuz my chi started breathing heavy and doing the same things 24 hr before she went into labor and her temp stayed around 98.  before she goes into labor it will go back up! keep that in mind.

edit- When my chi was close to her days that she would go into labor i knew all the warning signs and i still googled and was a nervous wreck.  Don't let anyone on here make you feel bad for asking this question.  You can have all the info in the world to prepare you but when its your first time its really scary to go through it.  But once it happens and you experience it, everything will be fine.  Its good you are asking questions. at least you are trying to be more knowledgeable about it than other ppl who just dont care.
