Is my coach unsure about me?

I've played volleyball for about 3 years. In those three years I've been setter, middle, and left. I'm a switch hitter and when I'm in the zone, I can put the ball down pretty well. But my coach keeps switching me around during the game from right side to left side like he doesn't know where to put me. Is unsure what do with me?

  1. dont worry this happened to me it just means you are a good player! My freshman year I was the 7th player. whoever sucked the most first I went in for them. You are just filling in holes on the team.

  2. Coaches are always changing their players positions to make sure that they are using their players to the best of their abilities.

If you know your coach might change your position at any time, just make sure that you completely understand the rotations.

  3. Your coach no u have the ability to play both side he just want to find out what side your best on ..

  4. If the coach was really unsure of you, you would be playing the left out position.  (In case you did not get my subtle attempt at humor, that means the bench.)

As mentioned above, you sound like you can fill the holes left by your team mates.  I played that position with one of the teams I played on.  We ran a 6-2.  We had 2 setters, 2 middles and 2 outsides and me.  If the other 6 showed up, I sat out.  If anyone did not make it, I took their place.

  5. Sounds more like he has faith in your ability to play from both sides and is using you to fill the gaps in his lineup.

  6. These kinds of questions always make me laugh. How is someone on the Internet supposed to tell you how someone else we've never seen, never talked to, or never even walked past in real life, how they feel about someone.

The best thing to do would be to talk to your coach about this. Your coach is human and may be making a mistake by not telling you, but maybe they DO trust in your abilities, maybe they DO feel unsure about you, maybe they keep switching you around because your an average all around player but not great at any one thing. The only way to really find out is to ask. Coaches would rather you ask them, then wonder what's going on to the point that you ask complete strangers what the coach is thinking. :)

Communication is important and this is what coaches are talking about; Communication is as important off the court as it is on it.

  7. I don't noe, maybe he wants you to see how you improve doing those postions over time, you should talk to him about it, he will hopfully understand

  8. he is just looking for the best spot for you on the court

  9. I think he's just trying to find the best place for you. Sure you're probably a good left, but maybe you're an amazing right!!! He just wants to make a good decision. And if you still get playing time, obviously he's not unsure!
