My daughter is 10 and going into the 5th grade. She is an amazing dancer and is in competition dancing. This is great except that she dances at a level that 16 year olds are in. This means that she is dancing 4 times a week for about 4 hours each day and has a competition almost ever week all over new england. She loves it but i'm afraid she is doing too much and when she gets older will she be too into dancing to focus on school? should i have her cut down on the amount of dance or should i let her follow what she wants to do and wait to see if it works out?

  1. Let her decide. She knows what she can handle. If there comes a day where she can't keep her work up or looks like she is exhausted, then you may have to make the decision for her. As long as she loves it and is doing well, let her be

  2. I would just watch her.  If she has that much passion then it could break here if you try to take it away with out any reason.  If she starts to falter in school or becomes too tired you may try to cut back.  You know your child.
