Is my daughter in the right grade for her age?

My Daughter just turned 12 in June. And she is going to be in the 6th grade is that the right grade for her or should she be in the 7th grade

Coming from a 7th grade teacher, your child is in the right grade.  Students who are just turning 12 in the 7th grade are often behind both physically and academically.  They are often less mature than their classmates as well (if you could call a 7th grader mature). My colleagues and I agree that starting a child early is never a good idea.  Those teachers who did begin their own children early in school now regret it.  Rest assured, your daughter is fine right where she is.

I believe that people normally start 6th grade when they are 11 and turn 12 at some point during to school year or the summer before the start of the next school year. So she would probably be the oldest in her class, but if she just finished 5th grade it wouldn't make sense to go to 7th just because of age, because being a few months older doesn't really matter.

I am 12 and going into 7th. I think it is fine a few of my friends were already 12 when they started 6th grade because there birthday was before school. Its fine. I was 11 though.

It depends on your school district.  There's usually a cutoff for the age when they can enter into the first grade.  That cutoff is usually somewhere between June and August.  As long as she hasn't flunked a grade, she'll be fine.  

I was always about a year older than everyone in my grade, but I started that way from the 1st grade.  My birthday is in July.  I never noticed any different because it had always been that way.
