My 21 month old daughter 'knows' there is a baby 'in my tummy' and that 'he will come out'. We watch birthing videos together and she always hugs my belly after she sees the baby come out of the Mommy. She knows the difference between boys and girls (body parts wise) and she knows 'our Carcle' (Carl) will be a boy. Today I showed her what an umbilical cord was and explained that it was how the Mommy feeds the baby inside her tummy and that's where belly buttons come from. She went and got her Fischer-Price fire truck and used the hose on it to fill up her belly button. She loves to cuddle my belly and talks to it and kisses, and hugs it all the time. I know she gets the concept but isn't it a little young? She's smart and advanced for her age so it's normal to me, but I was just wondering what other women have experience with their children and a new addition coming. How old/young were your kids when they 'got' the concept?
