Is my dog healthy ,or should i give him a high energy diet?

My dog is a mini pin.When he runs i can see his ribs.Also i can see three little bumps on his back .I feed him twice a day,And he is very active.Is he skinny or is it just how the breed looks.

Can you see his ribs when he's standing still?

Run your fingers along his rib cage while he's standing..  you should be able to easily feel his ribs under a fine layer of fat.

Sounds like he is a "fit and trim" dog tho..  min pins do have a fine bone frame.  It wouldnt hurt to switch him to a higher calorie diet tho since he is a more active dog  (you will want to switch him again tho when he begins to slow down with age)
