she is about 3 - 4 months, she is a shih tzu, and most of the day she is in her play pen . (we are still toilet training her, she can wait in her play pen which is much bigger than a crate, but wen she comes out she'll pee all over the house) she gets about 5 walks or more a day, depending on weather. and about an hour running around the house. sometimes she gets to run around till she is sOOOO tired.

  1. I looked at a web site and found some information about how to tell if a dog is bored. This is the link, http://www.dog-owner.net/how-to-tell-if-...  Taking out a dog for five walks or more a day is a lot of walks and good. But it depends on how long the walks are too.  Running around the house for an hour is a lot.

  2. Your puppy would be much more mentally stimulated if she was in puppy classes.  Sirius Puppy/Dog Training is the best.  She could start right away.  I recommend it.  Also, she should be more housebroken by now.  Go to www.dogwise.com and buy the book, "How to Housebreak Your Dog in 7 Days"  by S. Kalstone.  It is a very good, easy to understand small book and it works great!  Walking is nice but does anyone play with her?  Does she have any toys?  Does she get to cuddle and snuggle with anyone?  Find Sirius in your phone directory and call them right away.

  3. why bored? her agenda is tighter than mine! puppies don't have measure, they'd run til they die, eat till they explode, etc etc. I don't think she's bored, but she needs a lot of sleep and to feel human warmth, contact, put her in your lap for hours, they need it. Some vets even suggest that you put a watch inside one of their toys so that the puppy can hear the "tick-tack" and would feel like it's still inside her mummy and that the sound is that of her mummy's heart beat.

  4. Give her a bully stick when she's in her crate.

  5. I think she's getting enough exercise already. What you should include, maybe, is additional activity that can place the walks. I'm not saying that walks are bad. they're the best. What i'm just saying is, to cut the 'routine' style, find some other activities that can stimulate your dog.
