The car was overheating and shut off automatically, I replaced the thermostat and antifreeze, now i have the problem of the oil and water mix, could a cracked head be the problem or head gasket?or engine replacement?

  1. Sounds like the head gasket has a fault.

  2. Yep, the head has split.

  3. Sounds like nothing more serious than head gasket

  4. it does sound like the head gasket gone but others have said you cant check unless you take it apart but you can get it to a garage and have the head pressure tested but its not a cheap fix especially on a mazda unless you do it youre self

  5. Head gasket. Take it apart, it will tell its own story.make sure you get head skimmed before you put it back together. The people who skim head will tell you if head is ok.Remember to flush engine and rad, and change oil and filter.

  6. head gasket woul d be first guess you cant know about the shape of heads til you have it tested for cracks

  7. you could have just a head gasket there is no real way to know for sure  you have to take it apart

  8. It'll be a head gasket fault, but have the head tested for cracks & warping whilst it's off.

  9. that would be the head gasket, thats what keeps the coolant away from the oil, but when that seal breaks it isn't good for your motor and you could furthur damage your car.  it's not a costly repair if you can do it your self, but at a shop it's gonna cost you because of the labor to remove the head and manifolds to replace the seal.  good luck
