Both of my eyes should be roughly about - 4.70 or -4.50 (short-sightness), can I still be able to fly an aircraft? I think my vision is 20/20...

  1. Check with an arline recruitment department along with an eye test and your necessary Qualifications as you cant just fly by the seat of your PANTS! Reaction time/ and stress etc all important-after all you hold the lives of all on the flight in YOUR Hands!God Bless!

  2. Great question.

Contrary to popular belief, you DO NOT have to have 20/20 vision to fly an aircraft, regardless of purpose (commercial, general fun flight, etc.). As long as you are flying with contacts or glasses that can correct your vision to 20/20 when you're flying, that is fine.

If you really want to be a pilot, here's a great resource.
