Is my fantasy football team championship material?

I'm in an NFL.com fantasy football league that has 12 teams in it. I was wondering how you all thought of my team.

QB: Peyton Manning

RB: Steven Jackson

RB: Jamal Lewis

WR: Plaxico Burress

WR: Lee Evans

WR: Kevin Curtis

TE: Dallas Clark

K: Neil Rackers

D/ST: Giants D/ST

Bench -

QB: Brett Favre

QB: David Garrard

RB: Rashard Mendenhall

TE: Leonard Pope

D/ST: Packers D/ST

I've made a few trades to land a good team.

Trade 1 -

Traded: Tony Romo and Chad Johnson

Received: Peyton Manning and Santana Moss

Trade 2 -

Traded: Jerry Porter

Received: Wes Welker

Trade 3 -

Traded: Joseph Addai and Wes Welker

Received: Steven Jackson and Kevin Curtis

Trade 4 -

Traded: Santana Moss and Brandon Marshall

Received: Plaxico Burress and Reggie Williams (dropped for Brett Favre)

So, do you think my team has a good shot to win the league championship?

I will select the "Best Answer".

  1. I agree with Kendall here.  The only trade that worked in your favor was trade #2, which was a steal.  I dont really consider Manning much of an upgrade over Romo while you took a major hit going from CJ to Santana.

I have no idea what you were thinking in trade #3.  Addai is AT LEAST as good as S Jax if not better and you gave up Brady's underneath option who racked up over 110 catches for a guy that is nothing more than a deep threat and plays second fiddle in the passing attack to Westbrook.  Again, can't understand why that trade was made.

Trade 4 doesn't favor you but I can see why you made it, if Marshall gets suspended.

As for your current roster, I believe you need help at your #2 WR.  I consider Lee Evans more of a #3 until he develops some rapport with Edwards.  I believe your QB and starting RB's are strong enough to let you compete for a playoff spot but you have absolutely NO depth behind your starting RB's.  Heck you dont even have any backup WR's either.  You immediately got to scour your free agents and find some backups at both spots and drop Pope and your backup D...you can pick up bye week fill ins for the spots when the bye week happens.

I dont expect to get best answer, but I wasn't about to blow smoke up your butt and let you think that you got a championship team at this time.

  2. All that work and now you have less of a chance of winning.  It doesn't matter if I get Best Answer.  I am going to tell you the truth.

You were better off with Romo and Johnson than Manning and S Moss.  FYI, Romo and Manning are ranked in the same tier class and Romo scored more fantasy points than did Manning last year.

You got a steal with Porter for Welker, but then you screwed up by trading him with Addai for Steven Jackson and Kevin Curtis.Addai and Jackson are tier 2 RBs but Welker is a tier 3 WR and Curtis is a Tier 5 WR.

All these trades before the season started.  You haven't seen what any of these players can do in the preseason.  You went from a potential juggernaut to an average team.  No offense bro, but great job rookie.  You got the bad end of the stick.

  3. Trade 4 was the only trade that didn't hugely benefit you. You are in a league that likes to trade and it payed off.

You are unchallenged in a 12 man league. Joey porter for Wes Welker, what idiot did that?!?!?

I will not only say you will go the championship, you will win the championship.

  4. other than the welker/porter trade, you shouldn't have made any of those trades. Joseph Addai will put up very similar numbers to Steven Jackson this year (if not more), and Welker will definitely put up more numbers than Curtis. That was a bad trade.

As for the last trade, you basically traded santana and marshall for plaxico by himself. Marshall is going into his third year, which is almost always the breakout year for WRs. Despite a run in with the law, and possible suspension, Marshall will probably do just as well as Plaxico this season. Burress and Marshall are both "A-" WRs. Santana Moss is a "C+" WR. You basically gave away a "C+" WR so you could draft Farve.

Don't be so eager to trade before preseason even starts

That being said, you still have a very impressive team. I would definitely be surprised if you didn't at least make the playoffs. You will be a force to recon with this season. However, other than Burress, the rest of your WRs aren't rated much better than a "C+". Watch the waiver wire closely in the beginning of the season to fix that. good luck

  5. While it is too hard to predict fantasy football champions, you have a good shot.Having Peyton is good, but the backups are a little suspect considering one is not in the league(yet). Stjax should bounce back from a sub-par season last year. Jamal Lewis is an average 2nd running back and is getting up there age-wise. The receivers are pretty good but don't expect much from Lee Evans in the 1st half of the seasons. For some reason he doesn't appear until week 8 usually.Clark is good tight-end who i expect to break out this year. Kickers and Defenses are also a toss up to have a good or bad year.

Overall, its fantasy football. Anything can happen. Good Luck

  6. you shouldnt have done the trade of joseph addai and steven jackson, and manning and romo. i give it an 85 out of 100.

  7. QB - Manning is the 2nd best QB in fantasy football. Brett Favre is in a weird situation right now, but you should hold onto him because he will produce for you wherever he goes. David Garrard is a good back-up, you might want to look to trade him for a 4th WR once Favre has a starting job somewhere. 10/10

RB - Steven Jackson is the 4th best runningback in fantasy football. Jamal Lewis should have another big year in Cleveland. Rashard Mendenhall is almost pointless having unless you have Willie Parker, so I'd look to trade him for another runningback. 10/10

WR - Plax should have another good year in the Big Apple. Lee Evans should also have a good year. Kevin Curtis is the #1 WR in Philly, so he will have another good year. 8/10

TE - Dallas Clark is one of Peyton's favorite targets. Leonard Pope isn't a solid back-up though, so you might want to look to get rid of him. 7/10

K - Neil Rackers is the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to kickers who should be owned in fantasy football, but he's still pretty good. 7/10

D/ST - You have two good defenses, but might want to look into trading for a top grade one. 7/10

You have made some really good trades, but you might need to make even more to get the almost perfect team.

    Tips:

Look to trade - Neil Rackers, David Garrard (once Favre is a starter on a team), Rashard Mendenhall, Giants and Packers D/ST

Look to trade for - K, WR, RB, top notch D/ST and "ok" back-up D/ST

    Overall Team Grade: 9/10

I think that it is highly likely that you win the championship in your league!

    Good Luck!
