I was working out and something got stuck in the pulley, so i got on the seat part, to check it out cause its pretty high up, then i couldnt get it untangled so i was stepping off backwards and then i slipped a little bit and fell about 3 feet onto a metal bar with my left foot on the side, there is a bump the size of a golf ball next to my ankle and is a reddish purple, my actual foot isnt swollen when i compare it to my other foot, but its lookin a little puffy, and then i felt the swollen foot and there were like 3 or 4 lines, i dont kno if they are veins cause it doesnt feel like they are pumping blood, they just feel like mini bump-lines or something, and the swollen one is purple-ish too, i just compared my feet together side to side and the swollen one is like a half an inch or an inch longer, i dont know if that has something to do with this, but ive never really payed attention to it before

anyway does my foot sound broken or sprained or wat

o and when i put pressure on it, the pain goes to the ankles on the sides of my feet, is that normal?

  1. Hmmm...that's a tough answer...kind of like in the Dogs Section with people describing their dogs symptoms.  Just take them to the vet!

It may be broken, it may just be severaly sprained/bruised. I jumped off a roof on a dare years ago (it was only about 7 feet up, I was 12 and it seemed like a good idea at the time!) and what happened to my ankle sounds similar to yours.  Where my ankle bone protrudes was swollen to gold ball size and I had thin bruise running from my pinky toe about halfway up my calf. Went to the ER...didn't break anything but came THISCLOSE to those tendons holding my ankle together snapping (which, from what they told me, would have been *excruciating*)...basically, a BAD sprain and a DEEP bruise.

I would go to the doc.  It may not be broken but it needs medical attention.  Good luck.

EDIT: The person below me is right, you could call an ambulance (or a friend!) to take you to the ER, but I don't feel as though you're going to die in the next few hours, so if you can just keep it elevated and alternate between hot and cold and, generally, just stay off it, I'm sure your mom will take you ASAP.  Good luck again!

  2. It sounds serious. It may not be broken, but you've seriously messed up your foot and need to go to the doctor. If you really care about the type of injury, try wiggling your toes. If you can wiggle them, your foot isn't broken.

  3. Put some ice on it for now. Make an appointment with you doctor and try to live through it.

  4. My brother walked on his leg for three days before he had real trouble with it and when he went to the hospital he found out it was broken.  Don't take chances with your health.  Once it's gone, it's gone for good.  Go to the doctor or the ER and get it checked out.  It may not be broken but why take the risk?

  5. you can call an ambulance to take you the ER ...

it is best that you go and have x rays ...

  6. no its not broken..Im a dancer so I know what to do...take a chair and lay on the floor..put ur foot on the chair so ur toes are facing up...the blood tends to go to the spot thats hurt to help with the pain and thats PART of the swelling. when the blood starts to go back you'll feel a lil numbness and then put some ice on it and something tight like a brace....and go to the doctor...take some asprin if you want...but its not broken because you would have been crying and screaming and you would have seen your bone out of place. but sont pressure it much...rest it a lot...Its probobly just sprained or hurt nothing BIG but yea.....
