Is my friend gonna get busted?

my friend stole at least $200 worth of tools and he wants to sell them at a pawn shop. will they bust him for doing this?

Pawn shops keep records of where they got their merchandise from.  Your friend will be the seller of record.

Most pawn shop owners (at least the legitimate businessmen) have a friend or two on the police department.  If they get a load of merchandise that they are suspicious of they might run it past their friend on the force.  Pawn  shop owner's friend matches the tools to the theft report.  The pawnshop owner gives the police your friend's information, your friend gets busted for possession of stolen property, sale of stolen property.  

Friend goes to jail.  End of story.

Oh heck no, have him tell the Pawn shop owner that his Aunt found these old tools in her silverware drawer and said you could have them to sell if you wanted. *sarcasm
