  1. Maybe so. Maybe not.  Calling someone uncle doesn't always mean you are related.

When I was growing up our family had friends, a couple without children; they became aunt and uncle to us and a lot of kids who weren't related.  So it depends on whether your great great uncle is her great grandfather's uncle.

  2. Yeah like a very distant 4th cousin or the like.

  3. Depends on if they were related by blood or just by family.

  4. Yes, unless it was a courtesy title or he was an uncle by marriage. It sounds like he was an Uncle by marriage. If there are three brothers, Albert, Bruce and Charles, and Charles is your dad, then both Albert and Bruce are your uncles.

    If, however,

    1) Albert marries Alice,

    2) Alice has a sister Beatrice

    3) Beatrice has children Zachary and Zebidiah

the Z-boys will call Albert "Uncle" but have no relation to Bruce or Charles.

So - if your great grandfather also called her great grandfather "Uncle", you are related and we can work it out. Other wise, no.

  5. yep if he is an uncle then you are related. It isn't really close though. You probably have no physical similarities.
