Is my front tooth going to get removed?

Okay, so about 8 years ago a chip came out of my front tooth, and then like 5 years later I broke my two front teeth in half with a softball. I went to the dentist and got them fixed, but something was wrong with the one tooth so I had to get a root canal. That tooth has always been sensitive since then. Now, I was brushing my teeth the other night and felt a crack. My one tooth that had the root canal done came loose and now its wiggly. Its starting to turn black and there is a huge bump above the tooth where the root canal was done. The dentist wont take me until Tuesday. Do you think he will have to remove the tooth or what?

  1. It sound like you have a infection going on...You dentist will probably put you on a antibiotic and maybe retreat your root canal> as far as the darkness in the tooth> this is normal and you will need to get a crown ( fake tooth ) put in > its best to do both front teeth at the same time so the shade will match. Good Luck

  2. He might remove it and give you a fake tooth or he might be able to fix the tooth and put a better veneer on it

  3. It sounds like if he doesn't remove it than it's gonna go all on it's own.  No worries though you can get a replacment that's permanent.

  4. It sounds to me, having had three root canals and crowns put on  recently, the dentist should have put crowns on to protect the tooth since your tooth was dead and thus would become brittle eventually. However, right now I would say you have infected gums which is causing the loosening of the tooth. Infection in the gums eats away at the bone. This is something that is hard for you to detect until your teeth start to loosen. As for the blackness, bacteria is most likely coming through the crack because you have no crown to protect the dead tooth.

You need to go to a specialist who will help you take care of your gum disease and may be able to save your tooth with crowns. If the tooth cannot be saved, the bone can be built up again and you can get dental implants. However, this is going to cost you a lot of money.

Your tooth should not have been hurting for 8 years, by the way, since the nerve should have been dead. However, since the tooth was sitting in the bone, you might have felt nerves from there and it could have been an infection. If you have a gum disease, that might also explain why the dentist did not put on a crown, by the way. Please see a specialist who might be able to save it.

  5. This sounds very bad, I'm honestly not sure...it sounds to me like he will have to remove the tooth, but perhaps there is some way to save it, through surgery. For now be very, very, careful. If they can't do anything for you right away they'll probably do a crown or something to hold it temporarily.

  6. Your dentist might be able to save the tooth ,by putting a post(small s***w to hold the tooth together) a new core(building up the tooth structure)and putting a crown on..

  7. I kind of had the same problem with my teeth except my front tooth turned black. My dentist told me that my tooth was dead and would have to go. He might remove your tooth, but you can always get a crown for it. That's what I did. You can't even tell the difference.

And if it helps, my dentist recommended a sonicare tooth brush because it REALLY helps to reduce the likeness of things like this happening.

  8. Sounds really bad... It may get removed, and that sounds best to me... but dont worry... you will probably get a crown... which looks like a real tooth... feels like one too.. looks better... so dont worry... Technology these days man!! no need to worry
