I have 2 goldfish (fancy) in a 20 gallon tank. I know I neeeed a bigger tank but nobody will loan me any money and I'm broke. She's been acting weird and I don't know if her growth is stunted or if she's sick with something. She stays at the back right corner of the tank not moving much but will move when you go up to the glass or when its feeding time, she swims frantically and today she's started turning over and splashing water when she swims.

Is her growth stunted? How do I help her?

The other one is acting fine.

  1. your fish is not stunted even stunted goldfish will not suffer from that your goldfish don't feel well turning over is a swimbladder disease solution diet the goldfish for 3 days and observe if it will return back to its original state if not there nothing can be done.

  2. Her growth is not stunted. Goldfishes growth only becomes stunted in a very SMALL environment like a bowl or a 2 gallon tank. As long as she is eating and can swim normal I would not worry about it. Just make sure that there are not white dots or splotches on her ot anything else out of the ordinary.

Also, you can find REALLY cheap good quality tanks on Craig's list. They are used, but are still in good shape.

  3. This isn't stunted growth. Stunted growth does not kill them like that. But as long as they are not full size they shouldn't be stunted yet. But what this sounds swim bladder disease. If you want to know more about this disease check out this website and see if it matches what your fish has.

  4. I think you should call a professional for FREE.

I'd test the water though.  sometimes they act weird when ammonia is up or PH is off also make sure the temperature isn't 2 hot they are cold water fish.

anyways, here's the web site you can call or E-mail.  :)  may be better off calling its easier to explain whats up and return other questions that come up so forth.
