  1. Why don't you check with a good teaching pro and ask him the same questions while you swing those clubs. Then, determine what is wrong and where improvements can be made. Consistency is the name of this game and that is the goal you want to achieve. I presume you are not going to do this for a living.

  2. The best thing you could do is book in for a lesson with your local pro.  Then you know you will be getting the right information.

    Good luck with the golf!

  3. It wouldn't hurt to have a professional eye take a look at your swing.  There is always room for improvement on your swing.

As far as you hitting some clubs good and others not, sounds like your problem is consistency, and you also have a mental block on certain clubs in your bag because you don't have confidence in them.  I had that same problem with my 4 iron - every time I use it, I'll mis-hit and end up going about 50-100 yards.  I fixed it by spending weeks and weeks on the driving range just hitting my 4 iron until I felt confident I can walk up to a ball and hit it without fear.  Now I hit my 4 iron 200+ yards and straight and is my go-to club for my second shot on long par 4s.

Hitting driver and 3 wood off the tee is very different than hitting an iron or fairway wood off the ground.  The swing plane is flatter and ball is positioned more to the left 1/2 of your stance (Right handed golfer).  A pro/teacher could fix that driver distance for you.

As for your other clubs, you can try just hit a couple buckets with the ones you're not good at, try different swing thoughts and slow down the swing, I bet you'll get better with them after some confidence building practices.

  4. You could be having second thoughts of how to hit the club. Try to have the same thinking process with each club, it will help. Don't worry about the result, the only thing that matters is the routine. Trust me, this thinking process works. Good luck.

    Have a good one...
