i was diagnosed with graves disease 18 months ago and it is still not stable inspite of being on carbimazole tablets.it goes under active then goes normal then over active and my tablets change from 10mg a day to 20mg a day.two weeks ago my gp said it was over again so i started on 20mg but this last day or so i have felt anxious,my legs are achy and feel like jelly, and i am a bit shaky,i take venlafaxine for anxiety and propranolol for palpitations so i dont quite understand why i feel as i do.does anyone know how long it would take for the thyroid to go from over active to normal when tablets are increased? i have a blood test due in 4 weeks. i do have a long history of anxiety/panic disorder which makes it harder to determine whethjer its this or thyroid.can anyone give me any advise please?

  1. I am so sorry you feel rough, but it would be impossible to know why you feel like this.

You are still on a low dose of carbinazole.   You don't say how long you have been propanolol and venlafaxine, but each can have side effects which include feeling dizzy.

You really need to see your GP, only he knows your full history and can reassure you, change your medication if he thinks any particular one does not suit you.

Do talk to him instead of worrying for four weeks before your blood test.
