Question:

Is my guitar amp blown???

A few days ago i started noticing a crackling sound, like the kind you hear when you have a bad connection. It went away though, so I thought it was one of my cables, no biggie. Then today, I played a bit, and it happened again.

Then all of a sudden, the sound got drowned out. Now all you hear is this tiny, crappy sound out of the amp. Like youre listening to an amp from a mile away. But sometimes, the sound comes back for like 2 minutes.

I havent done anything wrong that would cause my amp to suddenly blow out. I barely ever even go past the 50 percent volume mark.

Its a 100 watt marshall, no tubes or anything

I already tried other guitars, other cables, other amps, plugging a guitar directly into the amp's input, etc.

Also, could the weather have anything to do with it? Its really hot, my air conditioning is broken.

somebody please hellppp

  1. sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere inside. Try wiggling the wire that connects to the jack.

  2. Sound like a loose wire. have a tech look at it, and they should be able to fix it, but it could also be your guitar, if you can try another ax and make sure it is your amp. Shouldn't cost more than a C note.

  3. if it doesnt make sound it's blown.
