i tried to lift him then he started wiggling so i put him back down.=(

He's probably dying. Try to hold him and make him feel loved and comfortable on his dying night. Don't feel guilty when you see him tomorrow without a breath. He lived a long life. My hamster died when she was 1 year and 11 months (last week). Just make your hamster happy that his life was spent with you and you won't feel so bad when it happens. Best wishes and God bless. ^-^

Gosh, I'm sorry about this. If this is unusual behavior for the hamster then something could be going on. Your hamster has lived a wonderful long life, you must be taking great care of him.  I found a site that talks about hypoglycemia in hamsters. It recommends trying a little hamsters and both hamsters seem to be exhibiting similar symptoms to yours (especially if your hamster breath):

Have you tried lifting him out of the cage? What does he do?

Well.. My Old Hamster Seemed To Have The Same Symptons. It Turned Out His Furn Was Knotted And Was Strangling Him Which I Wasnt Aware Of :( I Only Had Him For ! And A Half Months :(

Try Grooming Him, You Can Buy Small Brushes Or Comes From Popular Pet Shops.

i know it's hard to deal with but he is probably dying. this is natural. hamsters usually only live to be 2 or 3 so he's probably just dying of old age. i would leave him alone for awhile its probably not good to poke at him

mmmm. kinda sounds like it, but I would wait until tomorrow and see if he is cold just to be sure.

if it was really cold, he might be hybernating.  if so, put him in a warm place and attempt to wake it up and keep it up for a little while
