I have a problem. I graduated from a private highschool 2 years ago and my father owes the school $1750 and they refuse to give me my transcript because of that. My father left the country and I live here by my self and really want to go to college but don't have the amount to pay it off. Are they alowed to hold it?? I mean why is it my fault that he didn't pay??? or Is there any other way that i can get it besided through them???

  1. Yes they are allowed to hold it. Especially if it is a private school. It's on their rules. Must pay all debts before.

  2. Yes, any school can hold your transcript if you owe them money. It's pretty much the only leverage they can use to make people pay what is owed. Maybe you can set up payment arrangements with them.
