Is my internet fast?

I just tested it using speedtest.net

I live an hour away from NYC if that helps. I also currently have Verizon Online High Speed DSL. My friends who have cable say it is AT LEAST five times faster, it is called Optimum Online from Cablevision. There is also FiOS which is now available to us. I am 16 and think my internet is halfway decent at best. What do you think? Are the speeds I posted above slow?

Decent for a home connection, c**p if you're trying to host a server.  Anything over what you've got there is a waste of time if you're not downloading 10+ files at a time at 500kb/s+.

You did not say what you UP and Down speed is.

The upload is ok but the download is nothing special at all.

If all you're using it for is yahoo answers I'd get a 56k modem though :-)

For DSL that's actually pretty good. A few years ago I used to have AT&T DSL and I only got around half the speed you did.

If you get cable you should see your download speed double.
