  1. No your landlord couldn't prevent the lightning from striking the house and they didn't know it was going to strike the house.  This is why you should have renters insurance to cover such a claim as this.


  2. If you have been renting for any time at all you have heard of RENTERS INSURANCE, I'm sssssssorry but the house is insured for the dammage done to the house only and probubly the garage if there is one.

Otherwise, no your LL is not responsible for lightning damaging your property. Lightning is considered an accident by nature, no one is at fault.
