Question:

Is my lawn mower engine blown?

I have a riding mower. I just did the maintence. New oil, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plug, etc.

I was in the middle of mowing for second time since maintence and it shut off. Full gas tank. No oil in the tank.

  1. Sounds like an expensive seizure.

  2. Find out where the oil blew or leaked out and repair. Probably drain plug or oil filter.  Fill with oil and hope for the best.  It might be OK.

  3. Does it still turn over or is the engine froze up? Even if it's froze up you can typically break it lose and it's ok.

  4. put some oil in it and keep cranking it over. a lot of times it frees up and runs forever.

just turn the crankshaft any way you can (pull the spark plug to relieve pressure.)

  5. could be a low oil safety switch refill if and try to crank it if it doesn't then motor is broke good
