Is my leg broken or badly bruised? ?

The other day I was lifting a 250 lb man on a gurney out of an ambulance when the gurney and the man fell and landed on my left thigh. That thigh is bruised however it is not the one givng me problems. My right thigh is the one that took the impact of the weight. I'm not sure if it's possible to 'Jam" a big bone. I fell onto my bottom so hard I actually bounced. It was literally like a ton of bricks landed on me. I'm curious to know if the pain I am feeling in my thigh is a broken femur. It's not swollen, it's not tender to the touch, but there is a deep, sharp, stabbing pain when I put all my weight onto that leg. I am 5'2" and 110 lbs if that matters. My Dad thinks I might have a hairline fracture of my femur. I don't have great medical insurance and am curious to know if anyone has an opinion on this. The man who fell on me in a fellow medic...I was lifting him out of the ambulance for practice. (guess I need to practice more...ha ah)

  1. Sounds like a break to me. Take no chances, get an xray now.  You should be covered by workers comp insurance.  Tell your employer.  If its broken you may be in a big cast for a long time and unable to work. Hope its just a bruise. Good luck

  2. if you are not getting any better soon you need to at least get an x ray done. If the bone did crack it could heal by itself but it is better to know what is going on and not guess. I am praying for your leg to heal now but if you do not get better don't worry too much about your medical coverage and get a check done on the leg. you don't want to take a longer chance that something will get worse.
