he's 18 and he says that voices in his head call out his name, and last night he told me that he can sometimes see weird faces looking at him. Its kind of whacked-out if you ask me i mean i believe him but i don't know.

  1. I suggest checking if he is not doing drugs. Schizophrenic works a bit other way and this seems like some drugged situation.

    Try talking to him.

  2. He needs to go to a doctor straight away, and either referred to a psychiatrist or sent for a brain scan.  He seems to be having hallucinations and this could point to something serious. I would be surprised if it schizophrenia.  My brother has that, and he doesn't usually have hallucinations or hear voices; he just has a very convoluted and often psychotic sense of logic.

  3. dont look at his eyes and give him some works like home work.

  4. It's a big call.  You sounds like you know something about schizophrenia.  If his speech is disordered or his thinking is disordered then there may be a slight possibility, but it would definately be a good idea for him to describe the symptoms to a professional.

It would have been good to know if he is undergoing any unusually stress at the moment as it may be that he is overstimulated.  Also, do you know if he is taking any illicit drugs that may be causing it.  If he is help him to see someone for early intervention.  Good luck.

  5. i think your brother is having a hallucination ( auditory form) better take him to a Psychiatrist Straight away

  6. if theres a form of mental disorder like it in the family, or any disorder with psychosis, it could happen. could be other things as well though. take him to a doctor or get your parents to. if he's lying it will show up at the doctors office.

  7. He could  be lying, but then again he could be telling the truth.

Truly insane people have no idea they're insane. The brain doesn't let you "go nuts" and be sane enough to admire just how crazy you're getting.

Unless your brother is exhibiting majorly odd behavior outside of what you've already described, such as talking to things that aren't there, drastic mood swings, or odd thoughts that have no bearing on reality (such as looking for a pet that he doesn't actually own), I think you're in the clear.

I think you should tell your parents anyway, just to get their input. He is your brother, after all.

  8. You should take him to the psychiatrist or psychologist before this gets more serious. There could be a possibility that he is.Is he paranoid schizo or disorganized or catatonic?

  9. You are possibly dealing with some personal denial ("wacked out") of a loved one's possible break with normative sensing.  If your bro has abused drugs, that is a likely cause of imbalance.  If his statements reflect what he's experiencing, he is in considerable psychic discomfort, whether he consciously feels it or not.

Call the licensed counselors at 1-800-525-LOVE http://www.klove.com 24-7 for a good opinion as to symptoms, possible local appointments, etc.  This should be done as soon as possible.

If your bro is spoofing you, you'd likely twig on to that, yes?

Also call, during business hours, M-F, 1-800-232-6459 http://www.focusonthefamily.com ask for Counseling dept., tell the story.  They have trusted local counselors (i.e., those who do not rush to overmedicate), are able to answer questions about finances, etc.

You have your brother's trust, and he is apparently in serious need.  If you have spiritual tradition, kindly note that drugs may "open the door" to untoward influences.  The 1-800-232-6459 folks' counseling recommendations will include those local counselors who respect and understand this dimension.
