2x(x+1)=5

2x^2+2x-5

(-2±√(2^2-4(2)(-5)))/(2(2))

(-2±√(4+40))/4

(-2±√44)/4

(-2+2√11)/4, (-2-2√11)/4

Is this right or wrong (don't give me answer) can it be simplified farther

  1. u got it right and u can simplify it a little further with the denominator=>2

    and the 2s ==> 1s

  2. That's right. It can't be simplified farther.

  3. it can be simplified. divid both of ur answers by 2..you can still reduce your fractions.

your math is right. its just u need to reduce it at the end.

  4. You have the correct answer.

And yes it can be simplified further.

For the first answer, you have

    = (-2 + 2√11)/4

    = -2/4 + (2/4)√11

This should help you see what else you can simplify.

For the second asnwer, you have

    = (-2 - 2√11)/4

    = -2/4 - (2/4)√11

This should help you see what else you can simplify.
