I was just microwaving something and all of a sudden the microwave just stopped and the screen went black. I tried letting it cool for a couple minutes or unplugging it for a couple minutes then plugging it back in.

But those things didn't work maybe because I didn't try them long enough.

I don't know though. So guys' is my microwave BROKEN????

  1. Sounds like the fuse inside just blew. Not a big deal to change really. As long as something else isn't the cause of the fuse being blown, it should work just fine.. You can fix it yourself by getting a fuse from any appliance part dealer. Just bring them the old one. The cabinet will need to be taken off by removing the screws and sliding the cabinet panel off away from the front of the microwave. The fuse is usually right on top. Of course, make sure its unplugged.

  2. do you still have power at the receptacle the microwave is plugged into? try plugging something else into the receptacle may have a blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker or the receptacle may be GFCI protected

  3. Is the circuit breaker tripped?

Otherwise, this happened to me once. I opened the case up and found a blown internal fuse. Of course, that might not be a safe thing to do. If there's a capacitor inside you can still get shocked even if it's unplugged.
