I'm 16, a sophmore in high school, 6-2, and 155 pounds. I run a mile in about 5 minutes. My 800 was 2:10. Is this decent and do I have a chance to hit 4:30s and 2:00 by the time im a senior. (I run year round)

  1. Yes.  Your time is OK. You're not a state champ but certainly fast enough to run for most track teams. If you are motivated and train well you can probably reach those goals by senior year.

If you can tell me how long you have been running, how much you are training and your current time progression in the mile since you started training, I can give you a better idea how much more you can improve.

[update] - Based on how long you have been training, you should be able to  get down to  the 4:30's by your senor year.  I highly recommend doing base training in the summer and running cross country in the fall.  The key is consistency in training and motivation.  4:30's should be a challenging but possible goal.  Good luck.

  2. well those are some nice times as a sophmore and if you just started you have alot of room to improve if you get serious enough

you could be real good pre ran a 5 minute mile his first year(freshman) so you look like your on the right track eat well do core exercises work your abdomins and train during the summer youll see a big difference keep up the good work
