Is my mom's maiden name Dutch (possibly Anglicized)?

My mom's maiden name is Segnar. The man who came to America with this name was a Dutch immigrant (no date). Was his name Anglicized on Ellis Island or another immigration port or truly Dutch or possibly was the name from another country. A translation would be nice as well. Thanks!

  1. The actual name is spelled Segner and it is a South German name.

    South German: nickname from Middle High German segener ‘magician’ (agent derivative of sēgen ‘magical blessing’, ‘charm’).
