Is my mom just insane or was there really a smoking toy called "Punks?"?

When I first brought a incense burner and a few Indian incense, my mom told me that that smelt like a toy cigarette that used to be sold in the sixties. She claimed that they were called "Punks." I have tried google and the only Punks I can find is a subculture. Is she just joking or was there really a toy like that with a similar name?

  1. Your mom is not joking...I remember Punks. Only I remember them as a type of incense stick (they could have changed a bit from the 60's version she remembers to the 70's version I remember). People did used to pretend to "smoke" them, though! Pretty icky (LOL!) I haven't thought about Punks in a looong time....brings back memories!

  2. I agree with Ann, brings back memories. In the late 70's we always had them in the summer, I think now they come in all sorts of scents but I remember it only being one scent as a kid! I know you can get them at your local head shop or maybe Spencers.
