She knows that I am a computer geek and spend a lot of time on the computer, and if I'm on it for more than a few hours a day, she freaks out and bans me from it for the next day. Is she?

  1. yes

  2. Try telling her what all you use the computer for.

    Homework

    Research

    Social Networking

    Art

    Fun

Games  (If you have a Wii tell her it is for exercise too.

Many times parents do not realize what all you do on the computer.

If this does not work you could always ask her what she wants you to do instead.  When she tells you, point out which of those things could be done quicker on the computer.  If that does not work then ask her what you can do to "Earn"  more computer time and then compromise with her.  Do what she asks to earn the time.

    Good Luck!

You could always but a used I-phone from someone!  Then you can use that as a spare computer!  ;)

  3. shes trying to help you i don't know how but shes helping

  4. i'm on the computer probably 6-7 hours a day lol, my parents dont really care. if they didnt want me to be on the computer then they shouldnt have bought so many of them (6). no she's not really being mean, she just wants you to do some thing other then playing on the computer

  5. A bit of time away from the computer isn't bad, especially if you're on it for a few hours, because it starts to strain your eyes.

Unless you have homework to do on the computer, a ban for a day isn't that bad.

But yeah, it's not that mean.

  6. No she is not being mean she is just trying to help you, you should not spend too long on the comp at one time . You should have little breaks every hour, if you do that, she will see that you are being responsible and maybe she will cut you some slack!

  7. yes she's well mean!

  8. Of course it is not mean. She is trying to do this for the benefit of your health. Does your mom understand much about computers? Remember that many of us oldies grew up without computers, PlayStation's, mobile phones etc. Hard to understand how, but we did.

  9. No, she's not. She did it for your own good. Too much computer is bad for your eyes.

  10. No, she's not mean - just old :) Such a huge computer interest is pretty new, we didn't have that. When I was growing up we had a b & w tv with 5 or 6 channels :)  My son keeps telling me that if computers were around like they are today when I was his age, I would have probably done the same thing. He's probably right. He does try to balance family time with computer, work and school.

  11. No, you have a really great Mom. Most people would rather just let their kids do whatever keeps them quiet. Your mother is wise to know that nothing done to excess is healthy. I wish I had someone to get me to get out & exercise & to do other things so I would have a more balanced life...I am 49 though. So be thankful you have a mother that cares & is wise enough to know you should have other things in your life & it is important to move around more than you do sitting that long & that she is willing have you get made about it. When you are older you will look back & thank her because you will do things with you life that you wouldn't do if you spend it on the computer all the time.

  12. Your mom is out to ruin your life!!

Sike! If this is the biggest thing your worried about with your mom then you're doing pretty good.

There are some people out there who have way worse mothers.
