Also, what were the traits of 19th century narratives?

quotes would be nice =))

also.. Was it really descriptive and dramatic like the novels these days?

Has anybody here read twilight.. That's what i mean by dramatic & loving etc.. HA-HA i used the spell checker.. Well anyway, are there any examples of narratives from the 19th century? I have to write a narrative on a given picture and i have to include stuff about the relationship between the individual and her society. Any clues/ help is appreciated..

The room was filled with elegant furnishings. A grand and finely polished wooden table was centered in the middle of the room. On it, lay many pieces of ripe fruit and graceful goblets that only a wealthy, noble family could ever wish to use. Pretty a the room was, there was not a sign of life to be found. Well, except for a dull, stressed girl, who at the moment lay on the floor peeking underneath a gap underneath a door.

  1. It seems to modern. It sounds very choppy, and needs more thought out descriptions.

If you have some time, try researching some excerpts from Dickens or Austen. I'm sure that will help.
