Question:

Is my neighbours cat going to hide

My neighbours went away for two months and left their daughter to feed their cat, however she only came every two days and other cats would eat the food. I used to give it the love and some food it craved. Then last week it ripped it's stomach open and needed an operation. Now the owners are moving and the poor nervous cat is sensing something is wrong. They said it was hiding under a tree and would not eat. They have been leaving it at the house at night alone, whilst they settle into their new place, so last night I gave it some meat pieces as a treat. The thing is, it grabbed one piece and hurried away with it to under the house, before returning to eat the rest nervously and letting me pat it. Do you think the cat is hoarding food for a hideout, as she knows that something is going on?

  1. obviously your neighbours aren't looking after the cat properly, the exact same thing happened to us and the cat is now feral and most likely dead, I know that sounds mean but it's the truth and these things happen if you want to make the poor thing happy take her in and with your neighbours permission make her your own. I hope i helped and i hope that the cat finds someone (if not you) to love her and give her a forever home.

(It does sound like she likes you so maybe she is the cat for you)

  2. She's not hoarding the food.  She's just taking it somewhere she can eat it in peace. She just had an operation last week and they let her outside? Poor thing. She needs to be indoors so she can heal and not expose her wound to dirt.

  3. If the cat's stomach is ripped open, you need to take action so it won't suffer any longer! Try calling your local humane society - they will probably have humane traps that they will lend you or the owner to catch the cat in. If your neighbors are moving and leave the cat behind, call animal control so that they can take care of it. It's better for an injured cat to be found by animal control and put to sleep instead of left suffering for a long time while creating even more kittens that might suffer one day. The cat most likely is sensing that change is occurring. If she is a female cat, there's also the possibility that she has kittens under the house. Good luck, I hope things work out for you and your neighbors!
