  1. One thing very important in pet ownership: be prepared to accept the death of them, especially birds like parakeets or even others because there are very few people who are actually trained to administer medical attention to them and since they are very inexpensive birds, not many people want to invest their professional time to them since the owners often either don't have the money to pay a veterinarian to take care of them, or they decide not to spend that large amount of money on a pet that cost so little to buy.  Sad, I know, but, the facts.  I've owned parakeets and other small birds on and off over the past 36 years, and I've lost some either to disease or some, one, due to my putting the cage too close to the wall and the bird ate the sheet rock with all the paint on it, and died.   Yeah, it's tough some time, especially when you think you could've done something more carefully or, intelligently, and protected the bird, but, there's so much you can't do anything about, so, you have to be prepared for your parakeets to die, and some to live a lonnnnnggggggggggg time.  If you lose some to death, just remember how it happened, as best you can, and if you can improve your care of the birds you get later, well, then do so, and when you can't, well, just learn to accept it.  I'm still no perfect pet owner, but I'm a bit better from all those years, so, maybe my birds now are living longer and better lives today because of what I learned from the earlier ones I had.  You can learn too, and you'll do fine, even when one dies.  I know the painful feeling, even after all those years.  You just have to accept death as a part of life, in parakeets, dogs, fish, and people.  God Bless you.

  2. u need to get him to a vet as soon as possible.ASAP

  3. my bird was like that. you dont want him picking at the bar so much maybe put a toy inside the cage so he can pick at it instead of the side. they sell treat things that go onto the side of the cage put one of those in there 2 they like those alot. i would prob take it to the vet as well.

  4. I'm 13 too. I have encounted many pets' death.

However, yours seems that it is sick as a prakeet's life span is 8-10 years. Beg your parents to take it to the vet. If they can't be bothered, be a vet yourself.

Feed it rice water- cook porridge and the when it is cooked, the water cannot be too hot or too cold, it must be warm. Feed it using a spoon, if not bring it right in front of it.

Charcoal water will also do. Those charcoal tablets. Crush them and mix with water and feed the bird.

Meanwhile, put a lot of grit in its food to let it digest so it may pass out the dirty things it ate.

    Good Luck! :]

  5. Aww this is sad. Sorry.

  6. Take him out of the cage and open his mouth with one of the seeds of his food and put it in one at a time.

Slowly wait for him to chew, and then for water, either wet your hand and make him l**k it or get a Q tip an put it by his mouth so he licks it.

    Hope this helps!!!!!!!

  7. Take him to the vet ASAP!

  8. Just get over it Pal ..  Kids are are dieing in Iraq and other side of the world and you are crying for parakeet ............Unbelievable............

  9. Sweetie, I feel so bad for you because I really just wish that I could tell you that everything is okay...the worst part about what you said is about your parents do not want to take him to the vet because this is exactly what your feathered baby needs. I hope you can show this to them to plea your case that he absolutely does need vet care. He is a pet and all pets deserve medical treatment if needed. I also really think that this cage he is in should be thrown out and replaced with a new safe one especially if it has been exposed to disease or has chipped paint. Just keep him in a warm place and talk to him and let him know how much you love him. I hope he gets better my heart goes out to you! Death is very much a natural part of life and I agree with what someone else said that sometimes we learn that taking better care can prevent this from happening again in the future...fresh water needs to always be provided every day sometimes even twice a day if it gets dirty in washed dishes and a healthy pellet diet instead of all seeds some fresh veggies and regular cage cleaing can all lead to a healthier bird that can live a long time.
