  1. i have pigeons myself...does this pigeon have problems walking? if not then i just think it has a mood swing lol...is there a change in the diet? go to grains and dont add green vegetables or anything to its diet...if it doesn't get better take it to the vet

  2. Actually, what you said about the fact that the partner is always on the egg is significant.  It's more than likely that what's simply going on is that the bird that can't get to the nest is a bit frustrated by that and is simply sitting quietly as it would if it could get on the eggs.  Pigeons normally switch off incubation with the hen sitting from about 5 p.m. to about 10 a.m. and the male taking over from about 10 a.m. to about 5 p.m.

If one won't get off the eggs, usually because it's a small loft or breeding section, the other bird "needs" to sit, but can't, so it sometimes just tries to wherever it can.

Now - the respiratory wheeze is also significant.  if the bird has a respiratory infection - without any further information and with the proviso that I am NOT a vet - I'd suggest erythromycin as a good first choice.  It's sometimes sold in fish stores and feed stores for animals.

You might also want to check with other local fanciers, who can actually see the bird and make a more accurate diagnosis.

It's also possible that your bird has a wet canker infection (trichomoniasis), in which case you'd need to treat with Ridzol or Spartrix.  It could even be a fungal or other infection.

  3. dont let him go near the eggs! he will peck and eat it
