Question:

Is my pineapple too ripe to eat? I bought it about two weeks ago and it is now a bright yellow/orange color.

also the leaves are turning dry and brown.

  1. To see if a pineapple is ready to eat, smell the bottom part of it.

    If it smells nice and fruit and sweet, it is ready to cut.

    If it doesn't smell like anything, then it is not ready.  


  2. I'd say it's on the verge of going over, if not already.

  3. I like them when they are yellowish orange.  However, you probably need to get to eating it or it may be over ripe.  You don't have much of a window before they turn bad.  Enjoy!  However, if when you cut into it, it is bad.......don't eat it.  

  4. Cut it open and see, smell.

  5. Cut it, smell it, if it stinks its gone.. try it with one piece as color is trying to show the life of the fruit...


  6. Pineapple is a very tricky fruit. You wouldn't exactly know whether it is ripe or not. I leave near a pineapple fruit plantation and only pineapple fruit growers (the experts) can tell easily. You have to remove its skin to know.
