Get a shinx and ponyta, that would be a great starter team.

prinplup and staravia are ok but meditite and deodude ain't. Meditite has bad defense and geodude has a bad speed stat. Take shinx and ponyta or you could take a machop.

you really only need a prinplup and staravia because you will have an advantage over all of the e4 except for lucian but anyway yea its a good team... if you want another one i recomend skorupi when you get to the great march in pastoria... it becomes drapion which is a great posion/dark type with awsome attack power and a good pool of moves to choose from... i just finished my 8 team of beating the game tonight with an empoleon,roserade, toxicroak, weavile and rapidash...

Yes but get 2 more get an eletric type and and fire type (the only other besides chimchar) like ponyta

Perfect. But get Ponyta and Shinx to go with your team. I will suggest to not use Geodude unless you evolve him all the way to Golem. Instead I suggest a pokemon like Hippopotas or Shieldon or Cranidos.
