I am 6'4 and i have standard size (58") cue.It comes up to a little past my mid chest.....When I watch pro's there sticks generally come up to the lips. I think it is affecting my stroke and if it is too short, can I just get another longer shaft so I dont have to buy a whole new cue? and if so do they sell just longer shafts like 33" instead of standard 29"? Where would I go on here I cant find anything anywhere.

  1. 33

  2. There are numerous custom cue makers who will make a cue solely to suit your desires. It may be an expensive option but if you are an avid player who owns your own cue, it is a worthy investment in self. Also, I am certain major cue makers like Predator would make a custom butt to the length to suit your individual needs. Falcon has a six inch butt extension available that simply screws into some of there cue butts that is an added feature supposedly for reaching the long table shots however you could use it regularly. These are the options I know of to answer your question but I suggest you send emails to a number of cue makers and enquire what they may have on hand. It is possible that there are options readily available that you do not normally find in stock at billiard pro shops just because they are so infrequently purchased.

  3. my pool sticks longer than ur pool stick

  4. If you don't feel comfortable using a standard cue you can have one made for you that is longer.  I honestly don't think the longer cue would make a difference though.  Your height should not really make a difference in terms of the length of your cue.

  5. I suppose it depends. But, I am 6'7", and I use a standard cue with no issues. In fact, there are few areas on a 9 foot table that I cannot reach without a bridge (though I do use a bridge if necessary).

  6. I am 6' 2 and use a 58. I own several 60's but almost never use them. Cue maker Richard Black makes the best 60 I have ever used, but they are pricey.

changing your shaft by 4" will prob throw all the balance of the cue out the window.

  7. I think a lot of taller players do prefer longer cues.  You can get some 60" retail cues at the link below.  I've seen longer cues and shafts for sale on the internet message boards (www.azbilliards.com), but not at the online stores.  You can probably contact a dealer and special order it, or contact a cue builder and have them make one that will match your cue.  Forgot to mention that there are also some 30" shafts listed on ebay.  It's a good place to get started to see what's readily available.

  8. In my opinion, the dimensions of a cue are relative to pool rather than relative to the user.  With that said, I strongly recommend children to use full-length cues instead of shorter ones.  However, it's easy for me to say since I'm exactly average height so it's a problem I don't have to endure.

Almost every cuemaker out there offer a longer cue.  When I've tried them out, the length of the cue is barely noticeable with the exception that I don't need the bridge as often.

The bottom line is, it really doesn't matter what i think nor what anyone else here thinks.  Cue preference is all about the owner.  The next time you're at the poolroom, see if there are any taller players around and ask if they have a 60" cue to try out and see for yourself.  Some of my taller friends swear by them.  Some don't.
