I just got a puppy yesterday, he is soooo cute!

at the pet store he was all excited to see us and all playful. But when we got home he wasnt very playful or didnt want to eat or play with his new toys. So I thought he was sleepy, and he was he barely opend his eye. the next day he still didnt want his food or toys or he wasnt active either again. he just follows me around everywhere and i'm worried he might not be happy.

  1. he is most probably terrified by the fact nothing is the same as it was. if u were just dumped some where u had never been before u would be just as scared as he is now in a few days he will feel used to it feel more at home in the mean time the best thing u can do is keep feeding him treats so he knows where he is is a good place to be and also take him on walks so he get used to indoors as well as outdoors

  2. He just doesn't like you. Give up. You have no chance.

  3. You have to give him time to adjust. Some puppies take longer. Try feeding him out of your hand.

    Good luck

  4. when we got my boxer puppy he was just the same,he hid under the bed for the whole first day, wouldn't eat or come out from under the bed.but then we were eating pizza for dinner and guess who came crawling out from under the bed, with his little nose sniffing and wiggling?

  5. he might just need time to adjust. If you changed food that may have made him sick. Also, maybe he is just worn out so keep him inside and let him rest for a day or 2 to see if he changes.

  6. you need to take the puppy to the vet immediately and have him checked.  i bought a puppy from Aquapawrium, down in Waretown and he turned out to be sick.  He could not eat at all.  After a day of not eating I took him to the vet and it turned out the puppy had a virus and had been sick for a while.  He is okay now, thanks to the excellent efforts of my doggie's vet and his staff.  It could also be that the puppy is getting used to new surroundings.  But if he still does not eat, I would take him to the vet.

  7. He may be adjusting still.  Though, was he a puppy *adopted* at a pet store like petsmart, or was he purchased at a pet store like where they have a ton of puppies in those little window cages?  If you bought him from one of the window-cage style stores, sometimes those dogs have health issues that they do not disclose.  Also, they are frequently on sedatives to make them easier to sell (happy, healthy puppies tend to be far to active to live in some stupid window cage).

You may want to schedule his first vet visit soon, so he can get checked out and just make sure he's not sick.  If it's just adjustment, it just may take him awhile but if he's following you around then he probably likes you, right?  At least he's not hiding!

  8. When we got our puppy she was exactly the same. He will just need time to settle in and get used to his new owners which is why he is following you around all the time.Nothing to worry about.
