I close the lever and the nut gets tighter but won't tighten up. It just keeps twirling round Is it broken?

  1. Oh, for peat sakes - just tighten it, this isn't rocket science.

  2. Its just loose. Hold the nut on the other end of the axle and spin the lever clockwise. It will tighten. You can tighten/loosen the lever this way until it closes snuggly.

  3. is the axle stripped?   you have tightend release before you close it ,,,,,screwed it in then folded it over.... have one of the young biker to look at it

  4. No you just dont turn it tight enough before closeing it

  5. the threads on either the shaft or nut are stripped.

  6. Sounds like you need a new quick release skewer, about £5 plus.

Have you changed anything lately, if so, check that the ends of the axle are not sticking out past the dropouts, this can stop the skewer tightening.
